The Forbes Street Market is a Pitt-operated, market-style grocery store located on campus. Other grocery stores—and a veritable United Nations of international food markets—abound in neighboring communities. Be sure to shop in the city's "foodie heaven," the Strip District, famous for its low prices and tremendous selections.

Farmers Markets

Students, faculty and staff can buy fresh-picked fruits and vegetables—as well as meats, cheeses and baked goods—at the Farmers Market at Pitt, hosted on campus throughout the summer and on Thursdays during the fall. City of Pittsburgh farmers markets operate in nearby neighborhoods.

Even without sampling their wares, you can grow befuddled trying to count, let alone visit, all of the craft breweries (30+), distilleries (nine and counting), and wineries, cider houses and meaderies (at least 15) in and around Pittsburgh.
